Coming froma Bloomberg seat?

The short version: Convexity covers the equity, options, macro, filings, and alt-data workflows a US-equity-focused desk runs all day. It does not cover FX, fixed income, IB Chat, or the Bloomberg-native order-routing stack. Below is the honest swap, by workflow.

Last reviewed

The seat taxusd / seat / month
Bloomberg Terminallist $31,980/yr · single terminal
$2,665/mo
Convexity Pro$348/yr · founder lock for life
$29/mo

Bloomberg publishes no price page; list rates as widely reported after the 2025 increase (multi-terminal $28,320/yr), retrieved 2026-07-22. A Bloomberg seat also covers FX, fixed income, and IB Chat – this prices the seat, not feature parity.

That's $348/yr against $31,980/yr – about1/92nd the seat cost (the "1/100th" line on the rest of the site rounds this). Per-seat delta of $31,632/yr; a 5-analyst desk on the multi-terminal rate recoups $139,860/yr – see theinstitutional page for the full breakdown.

Workflow translation

What the desk does, in both tools.

Ten of the most common Bloomberg keystrokes mapped to the Convexity equivalent. Coverage is honest: green means full parity, amber means partial, red means we do not do it.

The honest trade

What you gain, what you give up.

What you gain

Things Bloomberg does not ship

  • AI that cites filings. Every answer ties back to a row in the data layer, not a model's memory.
  • Insider + Congress cluster detection. Multi-insider, multi-day, role-weighted. Not in Bloomberg.
  • Alt-data feeds. Patents, supply chain, hiring, CRE delinquency, ATS scrapes. See the data page.
  • Plaid portfolio sync. Read-only. AI answers in your portfolio's context.
  • Published prices, no sales call. $29/mo, founder lock for life.
What you give up

Things Bloomberg has that we do not

  • FX, fixed income, derivatives pricing. If your book has these, you keep a Bloomberg seat.
  • IB Chat. No replacement. We are not in the chat-network business.
  • Order routing & execution. We are not a broker. Plaid sync is read-only.
  • Bloomberg's news wire. We pull per-ticker news; the wire-tier license is theirs.
  • The Bloomberg ecosystem. Add-in for Excel, ports, BLAW, MSG, the rest.

Migration questions

What teams ask before they swap.

How long does the swap actually take?

For a US-equity-focused workflow, one analyst typically gets fully productive in Convexity inside a week. The first day is rebuilding watchlists and learning the command palette; days 2–4 are pattern-matching the alerts and the morning brief; day 5 onward is no longer thinking about Bloomberg.

Can we run them in parallel?

Yes. Most teams do for the first month. The Convexity seat is $29/mo so the parallel cost is negligible compared to keeping a Bloomberg seat. Drop Bloomberg when the team stops opening it.

What about our existing alerts and watchlists?

Watchlists import from a CSV. Bloomberg alerts do not export cleanly – you will recreate them in Convexity, which is faster because the alert types are simpler (price, change %, volume ratio, RSI, SMA cross, VIX trigger). Most analysts have 5-15 alerts; rebuilding takes under an hour.

What if our PMs still need FX or fixed income?

Keep one Bloomberg seat for the FX/FI use case and move the equity analysts to Convexity. A 5-analyst equity desk on Convexity + 1 Bloomberg seat for the PM is roughly $33,700/yr instead of $141,600/yr.

Is there a procurement-ready security overview?

Yes. The security page has the encryption spec, auth flow, ISP, zero-trust architecture, access control policy, audit log architecture, vendor subprocessors, incident track record, and responsible-disclosure policy. The Plaid attestation page covers the 11 production-tier compliance items.
