Nine real iterations, sketched side by side. Each one was a thing we actually shipped, then ripped out and rebuilt. The last is what you sign into today.
The quant terminal.
Black background, orange logo, ML signals everywhere. AlphaPredict scoring tickers 0-100, a market-regime classifier flashing CRISIS, a Fear & Greed gauge stuck at 62. It looked like Bloomberg crossed with Kaggle. It made the wrong promise: that the model was the product.
The light experiment.
Same brand, opposite palette. Cream background, plot-twist donut, Gemini sitting on top of the AI Analysis. A serious-looking light theme that was trying to read as a research terminal, not a trading screen. The donut categories were placeholder text we never replaced.
New name, same palette.
Bigger change than it looks. The name FINTERM had been read as "infinite term" by exactly nobody. Rename to Convexity, keep the cream, swap the donut for a single asset (SNDK), and start wiring real Insider Flow on GOOGL. Same Gemini under the hood for a few more weeks.
Dark, and Claude under the hood.
The cream had to go. Same dashboard, dropped onto a near-black canvas with a single royal-blue accent. The bigger change was invisible: AI Analysis quietly switched from Gemini to Claude. Same dashboard structure for a few more sprints while the data layer caught up.
Chrome rebuild across ~60 pages.
A single design system finally landed. New Convexity X mark replaced the triangle, a Convex AI drawer slid in from the right edge, DataEnvelope swept through 15+ data domains, and every panel got a freshness badge in the corner. Same data, completely different shell.
What if the assistant was the front door?
We almost made AI the home screen. Real-time data, portfolio context, prompt categories: Market Pulse, Ticker Deep-Dive, Risk & Portfolio, Macro & Strategy. The line on the page was powered by your data, not hallucinations. It didn't last (turns out people open a terminal to look at charts first, ask questions second), but the prompt-card design migrated into the current AI Assistant tab.
Production data, finally hydrated.
The dashboard had been a sketch with synthetic fallbacks for weeks. v0.9.24 ripped them out. Live signal feed, data-freshness badges on every panel, sector-rotation RRG with the right quadrant labels (top-left is Improving, not Lagging, as the old version got wrong). Panels collapse to content. The row-stretch void is gone.
Reorganized around when you actually trade.
Widgets shouldn't be a grab-bag. v0.9.27 grouped them around the four moments of a trading day: before the open, open + first hour, mid-day, power hour. Morning brief got an AI-written lead. 8-K filings became semantically searchable. Same data, ordered by when you need it.
The terminal, rebuilt.
Density returns, but earned. The market heatmap, weighted by market cap, lives on the dashboard. Mimir and Atlas (supply-chain & aviation, geopolitical & chokepoints) joined as sister surfaces. The morning brief is a real artifact assembled from 14 filings and 3 transcripts overnight. The amber and the donut placeholders are gone.
